MRO CRISM Type Spectra Library
This dataset includes spectral data from type spectra of phases identified using the CRISM (Compact Reconnaissance Imaging Spectrometer for Mars) instrument on MRO. Type locations for the diversity of currently identified mineral spectral signatures have been compiled into this library of spectra. These type spectra assembled into the Minerals Identified through CRISM Analysis (MICA) library represent the results of over 7+ years of CRISM measurements of the surface of Mars and represent the compilation of many researchers' efforts.
Confident identification of particular phases on Mars can be complex using CRISM spectra alone (e.g. chloride). See Viviano-Beck et al. 2014 for details on the geologic setting and diagnostic absorption features used to identify each CRISM type spectrum. The dataset presented here provides a dynamic catalog of the mineral diversity, and thus may include new or updated type spectra from those presented in the 2014 manuscript.
The MRO CRISM Type Spectra Library webpage is maintained by NASA's PDS Geosciences Node at Washington University in St. Louis. Contact us with comments and questions, or visit our community forum.

* Clicking Similar Laboratory Spectra displays the identification of the laboratory sample that is an analog for the CRISM type spectrum. Where possible, a link to the laboratory spectrum is provided, which can be one of four types:
- GEO – a link to the spectrum in the Geosciences Node Spectral Library.
- USGS – a link to a list of spectra at the USGS Spectral Library. The laboratory spectrum ID is found in the list.
- RELAB – a link to the RELAB home page, where the user may download the RELAB catalog to search for the laboratory spectrum. (There are no links to individual spectra in RELAB.)
- Publication – the citation of a publication in which the laboratory spectrum is described.
